The Power of Rapid Release in Publishing

The Power of Rapid Release in Publishing — How I Turned One Book Into a Trilogy Event

Introduction

When I decided to publish One Epic Year, I didn’t just launch a single book.
I launched three.

Not all at once — but one per month, over a tight 90-day period.

This wasn’t just a creative choice. It was a strategic one. Rapid releasing a series is one of the most effective ways to build sales momentum, boost visibility, and keep readers hooked.

Here’s why it works — and what I learned doing it myself.

Reason 1: Momentum Feeds the Algorithm

Book sales platforms like Amazon reward activity.

  • Every time a new book goes live, your author page gets a boost in visibility.
  • Readers who finish one book are immediately presented with the next in the series.
  • Momentum from one launch can carry directly into the next — if you time it right.

In my case, Book One’s sales spiked again when Book Two launched, and then again when Book Three arrived. Each release reignited interest in the whole trilogy.

Reason 2: You Build (and Keep) Reader Excitement

When a reader enjoys Book One, the worst thing you can do is make them wait years for the sequel.
With a rapid release, they don’t have time to forget the plot, characters, or emotional connection.

  • Anticipation builds from one month to the next.
  • Readers binge the whole series in a short timeframe.
  • Word-of-mouth spreads faster because your books stay top-of-mind.

Reason 3: You Create a “Series Event”

Releasing three books in quick succession turns it into an event, not just a launch.

  • It gives you multiple opportunities to promote without feeling repetitive.
  • Each release can have its own marketing hook, while still feeding into the bigger story.
  • You can position it as a trilogy worth committing to — rather than a one-off read.

What to Consider Before Trying It

Rapid release isn’t for everyone. You need:

  • Multiple books ready (or nearly ready) before starting.
  • A clear marketing plan for each launch.
  • The stamina to sustain promotion across months.

It’s intense — but if you can pull it off, the results can be worth it.

Closing Thoughts

For One Epic Year, the rapid release strategy kept momentum high, maximised Amazon’s algorithm, and gave readers an immersive experience.

If you’ve got a series in you — and the will to prepare it in advance — rapid release could turn your launch into something much bigger than a single book drop.
