The main villain, a complex character shaped by a tragic past, adds depth to the narrative as their backstory evokes empathy. Their cunning strategies create a battle of wits with the heroes, challenging traditional views of morality and justice, making them a memorable element of the story.

Brian/Ryan

The main antagonist of the narrative is a figure shrouded in enigmatic darkness, perpetually lurking in the shadows, exerting control over the unsuspecting characters without their awareness. His intricate plan unfolds over the course of the year, weaving through time in a non-linear fashion, ultimately originating from beyond the stars themselves. Delving into his complex backstory requires a separate timeline to fully comprehend, necessitating his portrayal by two distinct actors in order to capture the depth and nuances of his character.

Secondary Characters

Of course, The Lads are supported by other characters in the show, and they are an essential part of the storyline, adding depth and complexity to the overall narrative. These characters contribute to the comedic and dramatic elements, interact with The Lads in unique ways, and often provide contrasting personalities that enhance the humour and tension within the plot. Their relationships and backstories intertwine with the main characters, creating a rich tapestry of interactions that keeps the audience engaged and invested in the unfolding drama.

Jim

Cranky, often drunk, but has a plan that he clings to in his moments of clarity. Once a revered figure among the original Keepers, he now finds solace in the warm, dimly-lit corners of the pub. His rough exterior hides a mind that was once sharp, crafting intricate strategies to save the world from chaos.

Gary

Emotional heart. Landlord of The Keepers Inn and one of the original keepers of the ring, he is not just a custodian of the inn’s history but also a guardian of its secrets. With weathered hands and a knowing smile, he tends to the needs of weary travellers, sharing tales of ancient lore that echo through the inn’s timbered walls. His presence instils a sense of comfort and belonging, as he connects the past with the present.

Sandra

Mute support. Gary’s wife and landlady, she offers a listening ear and assistance to those in need, providing a comforting presence that makes everyone feel at ease. Caring for the lads like a much-needed additional mother. Always there with unwavering faith in our heroes, she encourages them through their struggles and successes alike, reminding them that they are never alone in their battles. Though she doesn’t say much, her subtle gestures and kind eyes reveal her true emotions, proving that she is the most expressive in ways that words can’t capture.

Lucy

Dan’s wife is characterized by her strength and loyalty, facing the seductive advances of Ryan, which creates a complex and tense dynamic. Her journey highlights themes of trust, temptation, and relationship resilience, providing an opportunity to explore the emotional intricacies of human interaction amid external influences.

Lara

Strong and secretive, she begins as Gareth’s girlfriend but evolves into a close friend, revealing her complex character and mysterious aura. Her concealed secrets create tension in the narrative, leaving readers intrigued by her enigmatic nature.

Christine

Aggressive and unfaithful, she masks her insecurities with a façade of strength, confusing her behaviour for empowerment. As Luke’s wife, she enters a reckless affair with Ryan, seeking excitement and validation. Ultimately, she vanishes mysteriously, leaving those around her in shock at her sudden disappearance. But her fate could be explained by an interaction in the distant past.

Omar

Cal’s Dad, a traditional Muslim man, has always been supportive of the main characters, encouraging them in their endeavours and fostering a sense of community and understanding. However, as time passes, his once unwavering support begins to waver when their ideologies start to diverge significantly. This shift creates a tension that challenges their familial bonds, forcing Cal’s Dad to grapple with his beliefs and the evolving perspectives of his children.

Tommy

Luke’s son, who’s the butt of many jokes among his friends and family, struggles to find his place and gain the respect he craves.
Despite his best efforts, he often finds himself the target of playful teasing, which leaves him feeling side-lined. Recently, he managed to land a job at the local pub, hoping this new environment would provide him a fresh start and maybe even a chance to prove himself. Prompting the staff to lovingly but hilariously tell him to shut up when he tries to join in on the banter.

Sadie

Luke’s daughter, who often joins in the relentless bullying of Tommy, seems to relish in the power she wields over him; her actions, however, go unpunished, as she is cherished like a precious gem by her father, who sees no fault in her behaviour. Despite the torment she inflicts on others, she remains oblivious to the hurt she causes, cocooned in the protective bubble of her father’s unwavering affection, which blinds him to her strange obsession with Gareth.
