I’ve been working as an SA (Supporting Artist) for around 2 years now. Though I signed up and had my first TV job as a SA in early 2019. I really did not like it (more on that later) and at the time thought “that’s it, I’ve been on TV, I can tick that off my bucket list”.
But obviously I’ve had a change of opinion since.
But since talking a good friend and trying to convince him to become a SA as well, I realised there’s not a lot of people talking about life as an SA. Add to that the conversations I hear while on set, which most of the time is rubbish and more opinions than facts. Things like; the expectations of you and your expectations of the production compared to what actually happens.
I’ve decided to create a website and blog to start the conversation about these things. Where you can go for information. what it’s really like on set, the build up to your day on set and what happens after it.
There’s lots of information on agencies websites and a few FAQ’s but they don’t answer the questions that are actually being asked, and the answers are very one sided an don’t take into account the actual SA themselves.
I’ll be updating the website as often as possible, as there is a lot changes constantly happening in the world of TV and movies. I’ll also be updating in blog form talking about my experiences good and bad, as well as Instagram where you can find at @that_jamiebloke and the odd video on YouTube.
So, subscribe to be kept in the loop, here, Insta and YouTube there’ll be content appearing everywhere in the next couple of weeks.
Also drop a comment below, is there anything you would like to know about the industry, about being a SA. Are you trying to get into the industry? Have you been doing it a while and have questions? Get in touch and lets start a discussion.
